Title Sequence idea

Our title sequence idea is to create a yearbook which is opened by all the conventional characters that are seen in teen comedy dramas, for example 'the jock', 'the elite', 'the freak' and 'the nerds'. The title sequence will show all of these characters opening the yearbook and showing the audience their school photos whilst also showing pages such as prom day and graduation day. When creating the title sequence we need to make sure that it is very conventional, this is so it looks as realistic as possible, without the right costume and props the title sequence will not be as effective. When creating the sequence it is crucial for us to add in bright bold colours throughout the yearbook so the audience are aware that it is a high school film.

The American Pie and The Breakfast Club analysis

This American Pie title sequence gives us an insight on how we want to set our High School teen comedy/Drama film. The sequence illustrates the teen years through the use of lined paper and doodles throughout which is something we would like to put into our sequence, the light hearted music also gives a playful, youth feel to the sequence. The breakfast club has a title sequence which stereotypically represents teens within high school, the aspect of them highlighting teens within their high school years, for example 'the nerd' 'the princess' and 'the jockey'. The use of bold red typography throughout American Pies sequences allows the sense of High School to be shown, this is due to it bringing youth and emphasis a high school drama as it is also an important colour in High school films such as High School musical. From both the American Pie and Breakfast club title sequences we have came to conclusion we want to base our sequence around these, with the use of bold, vibrant colours to represent the youthful times of High School and the stereotypical representation of characters labelled throughout our sequence. We want to stick to conventional aspects of High School comedy/dramas with the high school yearbook, bold colours and the use of doodles throughout.
