What is a title sequence?
- Introduction to a film
- Opportunity to make a good first impression
- Key production to cast members, or both utilising conceptual visuals and sound.
Conventionally an opening sequence will contain:
- Cast and crew details
- The title of the film
- Allows an introduction for the character or character type
- Allows an insight on where the film is set
- Introducing the signature theme tune
- Informing the genre of the film
- Sets up the enigmas
- Shows the patterns and types of editing that may be constructed throughout the rest of the film
- Identifies the Mise-en-scene and cinematography that will be confronted later in the film.
